New '08 MX5!     800,000th Sold!
........So we find ourselves past the eighteenth year of production of the
Mazda Miata MX-5.......a sportscar acclaimed internationally, and
perennially, as the most perfectly developed and balanced mass-produced
roadster in the history of motor-car production.

Those who have tripped into the experience of MX-5 ownership can
easily identify with the driving qualities that forge a bond among fellow
owners......from Barbara Beach's (former columnist for the Miata Club
of America magazine, and now publisher of MazdaSport Magazine)
impressions from the earliest days; to Jean Lindamood's (former colum-
nist, and now editor, of Automobile Magazine) experiences of driving
both the early and later iterations of the car, up the Pacific coast; to Jay
Leno's admission in his monthly column in the UK magazine Octane,
that despite originally percieving the Miata as a "hair-dresser's car", the
inheritance  of his late brother's '96, and its regular use in place of his
collection of exotics, convinced him that there was something basically
great here...........but then, we already knew that!

published Octane magazine...
These comments on Squadron-MX5's first official tour,  The Fool's
Tour, April 1st '06, to  Southern Illinois & Shawnee Ntl Forest,
Cave-In-Rock, ferry across the Ohio, etc.:

From Randy & Kelly, of Owensboro, KY, who joined in the tour in their black
'93 LE:
"Kelly & I enjoyed the company...The day could not have been better for
top-down driving of the back-roads of Indiana, Illinois, & Kentucky!  We saw
things that were unique & drove roads that are what I call "Miata-approved"!
Those who were unable to attend missed out on a great day...If at all possible,
make plans for the May 7 Tour...or miss out again on a grand adventure of
driving & socializing with some great people!...Keep driving!"
